Special Program – An Evening with Outlander

Thursday, November 15, 6:00 – 8:30 PM The Kilgour Scottish Center, 2363 Rochester Road, Troy, MI 48083 Outlander is a television drama based on author Diana Gabaldon’s historical time travel book series of the same name.  The show premiered on August 9, 2014, and stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a married World War II nurse who in 1945 finds herself transported back to the Scotland of 1743, where she encounters the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) and becomes embroiled in the Jacobite risings. Winter Solstice & Holiday Weekend Schedule

Celebrate the Winter Solstice with a book, game or CD from our Book Shop.  Most titles priced at $1 or less. While you’re at it, finish last minute holiday shopping in our Gift Shop. Special Holiday Shopping Hours on Wednesday December 20

Special hours on Wednesday December 20 for last minute holiday shopping.  The Friends Book Shop will be open 3-7 PM.  Located on the lower level of Troy Public Library, 90% of the inventory is priced at $1 or less (and even some of those will be discounted!).  We’ll be giving away some special prizes to lucky shoppers, too. Our Friends Gift Shop will also be open until 7PM on Wednesday. Enjoy some great deals on used books, recorded media and memorable gifts while supporting the Troy Public Library.  

Recognizing the Value of our Wonderful Volunteers!

Every fall, it is our honor and privilege to recognize one of our volunteers for his/her outstanding performance and steadfast service at the Leadership Troy Annual Recognition Banquet. Janice May was the honoree for 2017. Janice exemplifies the best of the Friends of the Troy Public Library. For over twenty years, she has brought her sweet, cheerful smile and caring wisdom to our organization. An expert in all areas of the Book Shop, she happily greets and helps every individual in her midst. Her vast knowledge of books, authors, and sales trends helps make our Book Shop popular and profitable. In fact, we have an entire section dedicated to her hand-picked titles!
