Since 1959, the Friends have been an integral part of Troy’s history by starting the first library reading room in Troy, promoting the building of the TPL in 1971 and fighting to prevent the library from closing in 2010. The Friends are determined to advocate for the importance of libraries in a vibrant community at the local, state and national levels. We count on our many dedicated library supporters and volunteers to advocate for the library, whether in good or difficult times. We want to share with residents the importance of libraries to a strong community and we would like to hear your story. Let us know why you think the library is important to you and your family or business. Your input is a valuable part of promoting and supporting the library, now and in the future.
