Perhaps you’ve heard about the Troy Public Library Endowment Fund (http://troypl.org/endowment/) created for the benefit of the Troy Public Library.  Over the last year, nearly $60,000 has been raised to support the future of the Library and its operations. This money has come from public and private donors in the local community and beyond. The Friends have been raising money for over fifty years to promote and support the TPL as well. Our money comes from sales in our shops, membership dues, donations, bequests, and grants. In fact, the Friends were the impetus for first having a library in Troy! With one small book drive and sale in the 1960’s, the dedicated group of volunteers donated seed money to begin the collection. So what is…

Our Outreach program is a core part of our operations. Each week, boxes of books are packed and donated to several civic, charities, schools, shelters, or veterans/hospital groups. Some of the places we’ve supported include: The Veterans Affairs hospitals Local elementary, middle, and high schools and teachers Haven House and Gilda’s Club Troy Community Center District Court Jury Waiting room Gleaners Food Banks Salvation Army CareNet Pregnancy Centers Encore Upscale Resale in support of local Christian schools If you know of a local charity that would accept our donated materials, please contact us at friendstpl@gmail.com.

You may make a memorial or general donation to support Troy Public Library programs and everything else The Friends of the Troy Public Library provides to the community through our online or printable Donation Form. Donate Materials to the Friends! We accept your gently used materials in good condition for resale, and all proceeds are given back to the Troy Public Library for programs and other enhancements. Our Donations Area is in the Main Lobby (2 boxes or less). Material donations must be securely bagged or boxed before being placed in the donation bin. Large donations (3 boxes or more) will be accepted by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled through the Troy Public Library calendar. The Friends have been given the “green light” to reopen! We welcome you back! We re-opened August 14, 2021! The Friends operate two unique shops right in the Troy Public Library! Watch this video for a comprehensive overview of our operations from Board Member Lou Wassel (click here!).  Friends Book Shop   Saturdays 10AM-1PM and Sundays 1-4PM Located on the lower level of the Troy Public Library, the Book Shop is open every weekend. You’ll find thousands of items in various categories, from our youngest readers to adult-aged book lovers. Organized by subject, we carry a large variety of fiction in hardcover, trade paperback, and pocket paperback sizes, as well as audio fiction.  Our non-fiction subjects span every interest, and we have a large selection of…
