#GivingTuesday 2024

🎩✌🏻📚 “We Make a Living by What We Get, But We Make a Life by What We Give” 📚✌🏻🎩

So extolled Winston Churchill, former British Prime Minister and indefatigable 20th-century statesman whose 150th birthday we mark this weekend.  As we honor his legacy and prepare for Giving Tuesday – December 3 – we need YOU to help us write the next great chapter in the history of the Friends of the Troy Public Library.

As Churchill eloquently proclaimed, “To each, there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents.”  And this is YOUR special moment.

We are an all-volunteer nonprofit committed to supporting the Troy Public Library through fundraising, advocacy, and outreach.  But without your generosity, our mission cannot succeed.

Here’s how you can make a difference this #GivingTuesday:

1️⃣ Donate Your Gently-Used Materials

Do you have books, magazines, puzzles, games, CDs or DVDs gathering dust?  Give them new life in our Book Shops, where every sale supports library programs and special initiatives like the Bookmobile that received statewide acclaim.  As Churchill might say, “If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it.” Drop off your donations in the Library lobby or schedule a larger donation.  Details here: https://wpc.friendstpl.org/2017/02/27/have-materials-you-wish-to-donate/

2️⃣ Donate Your Time

Volunteers are the backbone of our success, and we need YOUR unique talents to keep us going.  Whether it’s sorting books, tending shelves, cashiering in our shops, or supporting the Board, every moment you give makes a difference.  Churchill reminds us, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” Have the courage to give your time!  Volunteer here: https://wpc.friendstpl.org/volunteer/

3️⃣ Donate Financially

Your monetary contributions help us support literacy programs, educational outreach, and cultural enrichment for the entire community … and beyond.  Whether you become a dues-paying member, patronize our Book Shops, or leave a lasting legacy gift, your generosity will create an enduring impact.  As Churchill aptly observed, “What is the use of living, if it be not to strive for noble causes?  Join Here: https://wpc.friendstpl.org/members/      Donate Here: https://wpc.friendstpl.org/join/donation-form/

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Finally, we ask that you internalize the profound wisdom of this Churchillism: “We shape our buildings; thereafter, they shape us.”  This truth resonates deeply with the Friends as we champion the vision for a new Troy Public Library.  More than mere bricks and mortar; it’s about crafting a legacy that will inspire minds and transform lives for generations to come.  Won’t you join us as we advocate for building tomorrow’s library, today? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
