When life’s little things get you down, remember the rather cheesy, but memorable 1976 Detroit Institute of Arts TV commercial, “You Gotta have Art!” 📺🧀🗣 🎶

This weekend, the Friends Book Shop is your ultimate destination for books about art and artists. Check out the worlds of Impressionism, Renaissance, and more with our Center Table selections showcasing the likes of Leonardo DaVinci, Michelangelo, Vincent Van Gogh, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, and Claude Monet. (Manet and Monet – sound so similar you’d think they were separated at birth! 👨🏻🎨🪚👨🏻🎨 lol) These books not only cover the histories of these legendary artists but are also lavishly illustrated with examples of their stunning work.
Oh, and one more thing! Head over to our special cart of book sets about art, artists, and collectibles. Don’t miss the 15-volume Encyclopedia of World Art for ONLY $20! Compared to what you’d pay online, it’s such a steal, you might think of it as an art heist! 🕵️♂️🖼️
Our Book Shop also boasts a wide inventory of gently-used fiction and non-fiction books of all genres, plus magazines, CDs, DVDs, games, and jigsaw puzzles. Most items are regularly priced at $1 or less. 📚📖💿📀♟🎲🧩
Proceeds from our sales support special programming and other important initiatives at the Library. Venture to the lower level of the Troy Public Library this Saturday from 10AM-1PM and Sunday from 1PM-4PM. 📍🕰
With no major sports on tap this weekend – unless you’re into golf – it’s the perfect time to tee off your artistic spirit and swing by to browse our selections ⛳🏌️📚🎨. While you’re at it, why not make it a full day? Drive down to the DIA to see some real masterpieces up close and personal. Remember, free general admission for residents of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. After all, who needs golf strokes when you can have brushstrokes? 😉
Our thanks to Verena and all our Book Shop Volunteers!
